From sand to glass…
As usual, we were contacted last week by one of our loyal customers: a glass producer in Wallonia. Thanks to our many years of cooperation, our product manager immediately knew what was needed to provide them with extra cooling capacity to get through the summer without any problems.
The production of glass is based on the melting of sand, soda, lime and glass shards. This mixture is melted in an oven at temperatures of no less than 1700°C! After melting, the liquid mixture is poured over a bath of liquid tin. Just as oil floats on water, the glass mixture also floats on the tin. The glass plate is then cooled in a controlled manner to room temperature, causing the mixture to solidify in a finished glass plate.
It goes without saying that an enormous amount of heat is released during this process and that the temperatures are anyway high. Renting extra cooling during the hot summer is therefore not a superfluous luxury.
To keep both the room temperature and the cooling under control during the production process, we installed a modern EVO chiller with a cooling capacity of 500 kW and 4 powerful air handling units. Of course, Delta-Temp also provided all necessary accessories such as a buffer tank, water hoses and power cables. Our cooling technicians were responsible for the smooth delivery and installation and the temporary cooling installation was operational in no time.

Our customer faces the summer with confidence, even when the temperatures are high and the first heat wave is approaching us. On the one hand, the employees are satisfied that they can work in a pleasant indoor climate.
